The Glenn E. Hines Boys & Girls Club has been a youth haven for over 61Years. The following three men have been responsible for the nourishing of Newburgh youth for Three generations. We are proud to introduce to you our former and current leaders. Mr. Hines was first Executive Director of Glenn Hines Boys & Girls Club, formerly known as Community Workers Association. He was very active with Newburgh's youth encouraging them to use their athleticism to achieve their athletic goals and become positive role modes in the community.Mr. Glenn E. Hines Mr. Burger, now a county legislator served as executive at Bourne Activity Center, and later at the former YWCA now called Glenn Hines Center. Programs such as the Photo-film Workshop, arts and Crafts and the recreation departments basketball league attracted many of the neighborhood youth. They stayed out of trouble, and gained self worth during their formative years at the community center.
Mr. Harvey J. BurgerThe current Chief Professional Officer Rev. Nelson McAllister, a former city counsel member and Pastor of Calvary Full Gospel Family Church has been the driving force behind obtaining grants for the refurbishing of the building, adding two new sites for youth involvement, acquiring new technology and implementing new programs. Under his leadership site usage and staff growth has increased. Nelson has been a true leader who will continue to bring the Boys & Girls Club and it's youth to greater place in the community.Rev. Nelson McAllister
